Description Vanmorgen cybercafe, vanmiddag vliegticket voor Loja gereserveerd (overstromingen, dus met de bus gaat niet) en een chip voor mijn mobiel. Vanaf nu ben ik te bereiken op 00593-9-1765014, voor slechts 5 cent per minuut vanuit Nederland. Denk wel aan het tijdveeschil, de zon gaat in NL 7 uur eerder op dan in EC, dus 2 uur in de middag in NL is 8 uur in de ochtend EC. Ons nazoekwerk naar een geschikte plek is weer een stukje gevorderd. Van de tot nog toe geschikte plaatsen zijn er weer een paar afgevallen ivm de hoeveelheid neerslag gemiddeld in een jaar. I.v.m. Karin's lymfoedeem mag het niet al hoog of te warm maar ook niet al te vochtig zijn, in Nederland is het gemiddeld 800-900 mm per jaar, ik heb hier 1000 mm als grens aangehouden. Vanmiddag kunnen bellen met doctor Raoul Quiñones van de meteorologische dienst in Quito ivm de hoeveelheid regen die valt in de 10 plaatsen die nog op mijn lijstje staan. Dat was heel nuttig. De plaatsen die nu nog in aanmerking komen zijn: Vilcabamba, Malacatos, Saraguro en Catamayo in de provincie Loja; Chillanes in prov. Bolivar; Guayllabamba in Pichincha; en Valle del Chota in Imbambura. Voor vier van deze zeven plaatsen heb ik al een telefoonnummer van een contactpersoon. Oh ja, het was heerlijk met Paul en Jikkie mee naar enkele van hun bijbelstudies. Ook om te zien hoe goed de invloed daarvan is op hun leven en levenshouding, ook praktisch. Voor het perspectief: de personen op deze foto's zijn niet arm naar Ecuadoriaanse begrippen, maar horen tot wat je kunt noemen de lagere middenstand. En Jikkie had gevraagd of ze een gast uit Holland mee mocht nemen. Dus hoewel wij al gegeten hadden, was daar ook eten voor of na de bijbelstudie, arroz en pollo en bonen en gebakken banaan. En bij het laatste adres weer, de vrouw had zich altijd afzijdig gehouden, maar was er nu voor het eerst bij gaan zitten. plus dat ze alles hadden aangeveegd en schoongemaakt, enz. En het is zo leuk om veel te vertellen over wat ze wilden weten over de foto's die ik bij me had, zoals de winter, mijn papieren tas, dat wij 4194 dagen getrouwd zijn, hoe het mogelijk is dat wij dat busje op aanhanger oud noemen, dat busje is toch (zo goed als) nieuw? enz. Alleen, alles duurt een paar uurtjes, dus het is laat geworden!
